LinguaLab is an independent publication about learning languages with AI. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or paid by any app we review — and we never sell rankings.
Why we exist
Language-learning app stores are crowded with "AI-powered" promises — fluent in 30 days, perfect accents, zero effort. Most of those promises are marketing. Our job is to separate the tools that genuinely help learners from the ones that just feel like progress, and to back every conclusion with a source you can check.
Every guide on this site follows one rule: if a claim can't be traced to a named source — a peer-reviewed study, an official body, or a vendor's own pricing page — it doesn't get published.
How we review
- Hands-on testing. We create accounts, use the free tiers, and run identical learner tasks — a beginner vocabulary drill, a pronunciation check, a conversation session — through every tool we cover.
- Source hierarchy. Tier 1: peer-reviewed research and official bodies (for example, the Common European Framework of Reference). Tier 2: vendor pricing pages and documentation, always with an "as of" date. Tier 3: reputable press, used for background only.
- Linguist review. Every guide is reviewed by at least one applied linguist before publication.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction on the page. You can report errors any time.

What we collect
This prototype site does not collect personal data and does not set tracking cookies. If analytics or a contact form is added before launch, this note will be expanded into a full privacy policy describing what is collected, why, and how to request deletion.
